1 pound lean ground beef
1 jar (16 ounces) Old El Paso™ Thick 'n Chunky salsa
2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
3/4 cup milk
1 medium green onion, chopped (1 tablespoon)
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 ounces)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray square pan, 9x9x2 inches, with cooking spray. Cook beef in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Stir in salsa. Spread beef mixture in pan.
  • Stir Bisquick mix, milk, onion and cheese in medium bowl until soft dough forms. Drop dough by 12 tablespoonfuls over mixture in pan.
  • Bake uncovered about 25 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in biscuits comes out clean.

How to make Beef and Salsa Biscuit Bake

2 (12-ounce) packages refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1 (16-ounce) jar Ortega salsa - homestyle recipe (mild)
1 pound ground bee, fully cooked, drained and crumbled
1 can (4-ounces) Ortega diced green chiles
1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup sliced ripe olives, drained
1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • Divide biscuits into quarters; place into prepared baking dish.
  • Combine salsa, beef, chiles, peppers, onions and olives in medium bowl. Pour over biscuits.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with Cheddar Cheese and Monterey Jack Cheese; bake for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
