This are delicious beef short ribs cooked in a sweet hot sauce. Makes a great family meal. Try serving with mashed potatoes.

1 tablespoon olive oil
4 ¼ pounds beef short ribs
2 onions, quartered
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks
1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
½ cup chili sauce
¼ cup honey
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Heat the oil in a Dutch oven over medium high heat. Add the ribs and brown well on all sides in small batches. Set ribs aside.
  • Add the onions, broth, pineapple, chili sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce and garlic. Return the ribs to the pot, coating them well with this sauce.
  • Bake, covered, at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour. Remove cover, season with salt and pepper to taste, and bake for 1 more hour. Garnish with the parsley.

1 tablespoon olive oil
4 1/4 pounds beef short ribs
2 onions, quartered
1 8 1/4-ounce can pineapple chunks with syrup
1 14 1/2-ounce can beef broth
1/2 cup bottled chili sauce
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 garlic cloves, chopped
Chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat oil in heavy large ovenproof pot over medium-high heat. Add ribs and brown well, turning frequently, about 10 minutes. Add onions, pineapple with syrup, broth, chili sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce and garlic to ribs; stir to coat. Cover pot and bake ribs 1 hour. Uncover and bake until ribs are tender, about 1 hour. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parsley.

3 medium onions, cut into wedges
3 to 3-1/2 pounds bone-in beef short ribs
1 bay leaf
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer or nonalcoholic beer
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 teaspoons dried thyme
2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold water
Hot cooked noodles

Steps:

  • Place onions in a 5-qt. slow cooker; add ribs and bay leaf. Combine the beer, brown sugar, mustard, tomato paste, thyme, bouillon, salt and pepper. Pour over meat., Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender., Remove meat and vegetables to a serving platter; keep warm. Discard bay leaf. Skim fat from cooking juices; transfer juices to a small saucepan. Bring liquid to a boil., Combine flour and water until smooth. Gradually stir into the pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with meat and noodles.
