STRAWBERRIES IN RED WINE SYRUP WITH CREME FRAICHE image

8 cups halved hulled strawberries (about 2 pounds)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup dry red wine
2 8-ounce containers (about) creme fraiche or sour cream
Fresh mint sprigs

Steps:

  • Combine strawberries and sugar in large bowl; toss to coat evenly. Mix in wine. Let stand until sugar dissolves and syrup forms, tossing occasionally, at least 1 hour and up to 2 hours. Using slotted spoon, divide berries among stemmed dessert goblets. Top with creme fraiche. Spoon syrup over. Garnish with mint sprigs.
