Old Fashioned Peach Pie image

This was the first fresh fruit pie I ever made. I got the recipe from a Bon Appetit magazine in the 70''s. However, I used my Granny Leda's pie crust since it was the best. This is not your typical mushy peach pie.I think you'll like it.

Number Of Ingredients 8

5 cup(s) fresh sliced peaches
- juice of 1/2 of a lemon
2/3 cup(s) sugar
1/4 cup(s) flour
1/4 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
3 tablespoon(s) butter cut into bits
- unbaked pie crusts

Steps:

  • Mix peaches, sugar, lemon, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into crust.
  • Dot top with butter.
  • Seal edge of crust with juice or water.
  • Slit top of pie to let juice steam out
  • Baste top with milk, sprinkle with sugar
  • Cover edge of crust with foil.
  • Bake 45-50 minutes, removing foil for last 15 minutes.
