Grandma's Chili Soup image

This is not your average Chili. It's not a Texas style, or any other style for that matter. This is the first thing I learned to cook and was taught by my Grandma when I was 11. It is my most favorite thing to eat and I hope you enjoy it too!

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 1/2 lb hamburger
1 large onion, diced
2 can(s) tomato juice (64 oz)
1 lb macaroni, elbow or shells (cooked)
2 can(s) chili beans
6 Tbsp chili powder

1-2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 stick butter
cheddar cheese, shredded
sour cream
crackers
miracle whip
jalepenos

Steps:

  • 1. Cook noodles in well salted water- just shy of al dente. Noodles will cook longer in the soup.
  • 2. Saute oinions until almost transulucent. Add hamburger and brown. Drain well.
  • 3. While hamburger is browning and noodles are cooking- pour tomatoa juice, chili beans, and seasonings(including butter) into a large pot.
  • 4. Add the hamburger and noodles to the pot and cook for 15-30 minutes.
  • 5. Spoon into bowls and top with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, more chili powder, crackers, and/or jalepenos- What ever you like! My family likes to put Miracle Whip on crackers and sprinkle chili powder on them and eat it with them.
