Garlic Fried Rice (Sinangag) image

This along with a fried egg and some marinated meat makes a typical Filipino breakfast dish! Taken from The Filipino-American Kitchen by Aranas. Make sure to use long-grained rice.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 Tbsp olive oil
2 small cloves garlic, chopped
4 c cooked day-old long-grain rice
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper (or to taste)

Steps:

  • 1. Heat olive oil in large skillet or wok over medium-low heat. Add garlic. Cook and stir until lightly toasted. Add rice and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until grains of rice are separated and lightly fried. Season with salt and pepper. Ladle onto platter and serve hot.
