Easy Apple Streusel Pie image

Easy but tasty recipe.

1 9" unbaked pie shell
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
STREUSEL
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup cold butter
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • 1. In medium bowl, combine cornstarch, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in vanilla and butter. Fold in pie filling. Pour into crust.
  • 2. Streusel: In medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Add butter and use a fork to blend ingredients until mixture is crumbly. Add nuts. (If using a food processor, combine ingredients and pulse until crumbly). Sprinkle mixture over top of pie.
  • 3. Bake at 325 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until topping is browned. Note: I prefer to place the pie on the bottom rack because I think the pie crust will brown better.
