Corn Dog

Growing up, I absolutely loved corn dogs. So what could be better than an appetizer-size version served on cute wooden picks?! When I put these out for a summer gathering or a fall football weekend, they are always the first to go, proving that there are many of us corn dog loving adults still among us! :) Peg

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 package(s) good quality hot dogs, sliced into 4 pieces each
3/4 cup(s) yellow cornmeal
1 1/4 cup(s) flour
1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 teaspoon(s) salt
4 tablespoon(s) sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup(s) milk

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients, except hot dogs, together until smooth.
  • Poke a long toothpick or wooden appetizer skewer into one end of hot dog chunk. Dip into batter.
  • Deep fry at 350 degrees until golden brown, usually 4-5 minutes. Serve with your favorite corn dog dipping sauce.
  • If desired, you can deep fry on the toothpicks that you dip them into the batter with and then replace them with more decorative wooden appetizer skewers before serving... it's up to you.
