AMISH APPLE PIE image

Yield 6-8 pie slices

Number Of Ingredients 16

Topping
1/4c brn sugar
1/2c white sugar
1/2c flour
1TBS of cinnamon
1tsp nutmeg
pinch of salt
Filling
1/2c butter (diced into cubes)
4-5 large apples sliced thin (no skin)
1 large egg (beaten)
1/2 c chopped walnuts (if desired)
1/2 c sugar
1c heavy cream
1tsp cinnamon
1tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • In one bowl mix the 6 ingredents of topping and set aside. Place pie shell in a deep dish pie pan,crimp edges add sliced apples sprinkle cinnamon,dot with butter cubes, add walnuts. Add egg and heavy cream together then pour over apples. Bake for 1 hour, after the first 20 minutes sprinkle on topping and continue to bake about 40 minutes, or until the topping puffs and gets brown.
