This breakfast slushy combines sweet melon with tangy orange juice for a quick summer smoothie.

5 ice cubes, slightly crushed
4 cups cubed ripe cantaloupe
1/4 cup fresh orange juice

Steps:

  • Place crushed ice in a blender. Add the melon and orange juice. Blend until slushy-smooth, about 10 seconds. Serve slush immediately in glasses with slices of melon on the side.

1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
1 container (10 ounces) frozen sweetened sliced strawberries
4 medium ripe bananas, cut into chunks
1 cup cubed cantaloupe
1 cup cubed honeydew
2-1/2 cups water
3/4 cup thawed orange juice concentrate
3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
6 liters lemon-lime soda, chilled

Steps:

  • In a blender, process the fruit in batches until smooth. Pour into a 3-qt. freezer container. Stir in the water and concentrates. Cover and freeze until icy. To serve, spoon 1/2 cup into a glass; add about 1 cup soda.

Garnish: lime slices

Steps:

  • Purée frozen berries, corn syrup, rum to taste, and lime juice in a blender until slushy. Spoon into 6 (8-ounce) wineglasses or other stemmed shallow glasses and top with melon.

2/3 cup light rum
1/3 cup melon liqueur or orange liqueur
3 cups ice cubes
melon balls (optional)
mint leaves (optional)

Steps:

  • In a blender container combine cubed melon with juice cincentrate, rum and liqueur. cover and blend till smooth. With blender running add ice cubes one a time through hole opening in lid. Pour in stemmed glasses, if desired garnish with melon.

3 cups crushed ice
1/2 packed cup fresh mint leaves
1 1/2 cups ginger ale
1/2 cup sugar

  • Add the melon, ice, mint, ginger ale, and sugar to a blender. Pulse until the mixture becomes slushy. Pour into 4 glasses and serve immediately.
