ASIAN GROUND BEEF, PEPPER AND ONION SAUTE

Asian Ground Beef, Pepper and Onion Saute image

A recipe I found on www.allrecipes.com that I modified to fit my allergies and our tastes. We like our oriental food saucy, so I made extra sauce and added water chestnuts for DD. This has a kick to it from the ginger, red pepper flakes and the chili paste. Makes 6 1-cup servings. This is a WW friendly recipe, if you use 96% lean ground beef. Points value per serving as calculated on the WW website is 3.

Making Asian ground beef and pepper sauté is a popular recipe that is easy to make and delicious. This recipe is perfect for anyone looking to try something new with ground beef. In this article, we will look at some valuable tips on how to make the perfect Asian ground beef and pepper sauté.

Tip 1: Use the Right Type of Beef

Choosing the right type of beef is essential when making this recipe. It is recommended to use lean ground beef as it has a lower fat content than regular ground beef. This not only makes the dish healthier but also prevents the meat from becoming too greasy. When shopping for lean ground beef, look for the 90/10 or 93/7 ratios.

Tip 2: Season the Beef

To give the beef flavor, it is important to season it. This can be done using a variety of spices and herbs, such as garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Adding a pinch of salt and black pepper can also enhance the flavor of the beef. While seasoning the meat, make sure to mix the spices and herbs with the beef thoroughly.

Tip 3: Cut the Peppers into Thin Strips

When adding the peppers to the sauté, it is recommended to cut them into thin strips. This allows them to cook evenly and absorb the flavors of the beef and spices. The peppers can be sliced either lengthwise or widthwise, depending on your preference. Make sure to remove the seeds and pith before slicing the peppers.

Tip 4: Cook the Beef and Peppers Separately

To ensure that both the beef and peppers are cooked properly, it is best to cook them separately. Start by browning the beef over medium-high heat until it is fully cooked. Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside. In the same pan, add the peppers and sauté them until they are tender.

Tip 5: Add the Sauce to the Pan

Once the peppers are cooked, it's time to add the sauce. The sauce can be made using a combination of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, and honey. These ingredients can be mixed together in a small bowl before adding them to the pan. Stir the sauce into the peppers and let it simmer for a few minutes.

Tip 6: Combine the Beef and Peppers

After the sauce has simmered for a few minutes, it's time to add the beef. Mix the beef into the pan with the peppers and sauce, making sure that it is evenly distributed. Let the beef and peppers cook together for a few more minutes until they are fully coated with the sauce.

Tip 7: Serve the Dish Hot

Once the Asian ground beef and pepper sauté is fully cooked, it's time to serve it. This dish is best served hot and can be paired with a variety of sides, such as rice, noodles, or vegetables. Garnish the dish with green onions and sesame seeds for an added touch of flavor and presentation.

Conclusion:

Making Asian ground beef and pepper sauté is an excellent way to add some variety to your meal plan. By following these valuable tips, you can ensure that your dish is flavorful and cooked to perfection. Remember to use lean ground beef, season the meat, cut the peppers into thin strips, cook the beef and peppers separately, add the sauce to the pan, combine the beef and peppers, and serve the dish hot.
