- core apples. place in a medium saucepan.
- add water.
- pour half of sugar into center of each apple.
- dab with butter.
- sprinkle with cinnamon.
- cook covered over medium heat.
- bring to a boil.
- reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes.
- serve warm.

Continue cooking apples, dipping liquid over apples as they cook. Turn occasionally. Cook until apples are tender and juice has thickened, 5-8 minutes. May add a dash of cinnamon, if desired.
