Turkish Pilaf image

There are dozens upon dozens of Turkish pilaf recipes. This version is really easy to prepare, and the list of ingredients adds a special touch to this dish. Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups brown rice, uncooked
4 cups water
2 Tbsp slivered almonds
2 Tbsp pistachio nuts, shelled and coarsely chopped
1/4 cup dried prunes, chopped
1/4 cup dried apricots, chopped
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Bring water to a brisk boil in a medium saucepan. Add brown rice, stir well, and cover pan. Reduce heat to low and let the rice simmer for 45 minutes over low heat.
  • 2. Stir in all remaining ingredients, and serve immediately while still warm.
