TEXAS CHOCOLATE CAKE image

Number Of Ingredients 20

Cake
2C flour
2C sugar
1/2t salt
(sift all together)
2 sticks butter
1C water
3T cocoa
2 eggs
1t baking soda
1/2C buttermilk
1t vanilla
Frosting
1/2 stick butter
1 1/2T cocoa
3T milk
1/2 box confectioners sugar
1/2C pecans
1T vanilla
Combine all and heat on stove until smooth. DO NOT BOIL Pour over hot cake.

Steps:

  • Melt butter, water and cocoa in heavy sauce pan. Bring to boil, remove from heat and set aside. Beat 2 eggs with baking soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Add mixture to sauce pan, carefully incorporating. Add liquid mixture to flour mixture beating thoroughly. Pour cake batter into greased glass 13x9 pan. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes or until done.
