Spicy Cream of Tomato Soup image

Nice and hearty cream of tomato soup with a spicy twist.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 stick butter
1/2 c flour
4 c milk
2 1/2 lb canned diced tomatoes
1 1/2 c tomato juice
1 1/2 c prepared bloody mary mix
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp pepper
1/4 c sugar
2 c heavy cream
sour cream and chopped green onions as a garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Make a roux in a large stock pot using butter and flour - be care that it doesn't burn.
  • 2. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • 3. Garnish each serving with a dollop of sour cream and chopped green onion, if preferred.
