SLOW-COOKED GERMAN SHORT RIBS image

2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
6 large beef short ribs
2 tbsp.olive oil
1 large onion, sliced
1/2 c. dry red wine
1/2 c. chile sauce
3 tbsp. packed brown sugar
3 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 c. water

Steps:

  • 1. In small bowl, combine 2 tbsp. flour, salt and pepper. Blend together. Coat short ribs with mixture. 2. In large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Brown short ribs. 3. In slow cooker, combine onions, wine, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and chili powder. Transfer short ribs from the skillet to the cooker. 4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours. 5. Remove ribs and keep warm.Turn cooker to High. Mix the remaining 2 tbsp. flour with 1/4 c. water and stir into the sauce. Cook for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
