Microwave Rice image

I can't remember for sure where I got this recipe, but I've had it for over 20 years. Just use the old-fashioned, inexpensive rice and save money. It's no more effort than using the expensive 'instant' rice.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup(s) regular rice
2 cup(s) water
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1 tablespoon(s) butter

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl. Allow room for expansion.
  • Cover with wax paper or a vented lid.
  • Microwave at full power for 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.
  • Microwave at 50 percent power for 15 minutes. Fluff with fork.
  • Use this in any manner that you would use 'instant' rice.
