Got this from a friend in Atlanta! So, so good and good for you, too! Try this...substitute dried cranberries for the dates and waluts instead of the chocolate. I did and it was awesome!

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350* Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat, add brown sugar, Stir until smooth.
- 2. In a medium bowl, combine both flours, baking soda, oats, and salt.
- 3. Combine butter mixture with dry ingredients, and add egg, vanilla, and dates. Fold in chocolate. Batter will be stiff.
- 4. Mix well, spoon by tablespoon onto lightly greased baking sheets.
- 5. Bake for 12 minutes or until tops are dry to touch. Makes 32 cookies.
