Frank Pepe Pizzeria's Garlicky White Clam 'Apizza' image

Number Of Ingredients 10

.5 cup Flour, for dusting
8 ounce Refrigerated pizza dough, at room temperature
.5 cup Cornmeal, for dusting
.5 cup Shredded pecorino Romano or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
18 Clams, shucked
4.5 Cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Dried oregano
1/4 cup Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
.5 cup Minced flat-leaf parsley, for garnish (optional)
1/4 cup Red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • One hour before baking, place a pizza stone or baking sheet on rack in top third of oven. Preheat oven to 500°F.
  • On a lightly floured work surface, use your hands or a rolling pin to shape dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer dough to a pizza peel or upside-down baking sheet dusted with cornmeal. Top with cheese, clams, garlic and oregano. Slide onto preheated baking stone. Bake 8-10 minutes or until crust is browned. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with parsley and/or red pepper flakes, if desired.
