Empanada Dough Recipe - (4.6/5) image

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 c masa harina (do not substitute corn meal or corn flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 c butter, melted and cooled
1/2 - 3/4 c water

Steps:

  • Mix together flour, masa, baking powder and salt. Melt butter and allow to cool. Add melted butter to the flour mixture. Gradually add the water starting with 1/2 c. Work into the mixture with your hands. If not all of the ingredients are incorporated into a dough ball add more water as needed. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes. Once chilled, divide dough ball in half and roll out to 1/8" thickness. With the cutting side of the Tupperware Empanada Press cut out 4 circles of dough. Repeat with the other half of dough. Reroll and cut scraps. Place dough circles on Tupperware Emapanada Press and follow direction for filling recipe of your choice.
