Cumberland Sauce image

A must when serving ham

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 teaspoon(s) shredded orange peel
3/4 cup(s) orange juice
1/2 cup(s) currant jelly
2 tablespoon(s) claret wine
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground ginger
4 teaspoon(s) cornstarch
1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice

Steps:

  • Combine orange peel, orange juice, jelly, claret, and ginger in a saucepan. Heat till jelly melts, stirring occasionally
  • Blend cornstarch, and lemon juice till smooth; stir into jelly mixture. Cook and stir till mixture is thick and bubbly; cook 1 to 2 minutes longer
  • Serve hot or cold
