Cheeseburger Meatloaf and Sauce image

My family loves this meat loaf. What makes it so great is putting the slices of bread under it to take care of the grease. Recipe courtesy of Paula Deen.

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 lb ground beef
1 tsp house seasoning ( garlic powder, black pepper, & salt mix)
1 medium onion chopped
1 medium bell pepper, chopped
1 c grated cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp worcestrshire sauce
1/2 c sour cream
1 c crushed crackers ( recommended: ritz)
1 tsp seasoned salt (recommended: lawry's)
2 slice white bread
sauce recipe follows:
1 can(s) ( 10 3/4-ounce) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 c milk
1 1/2 c grated cheddar
chopped onions, optional
1 bunch fresh parsley leaves, chopped, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients together, EXCEPT the bread slices and sauce.
  • 2. Shape into a loaf. Line a 1 1/2-quart loaf pan with the bread slices. Place meatloaf on top.
  • 3. Bake loaf for 45 minutes. The bread absorbs the grease and should be discarded after loaf is removed from oven.
  • 4. Heat the soup and milk over medium heat; add the cheese. Add the chopped onions and parsley to the sauce, if desired. Pour Sauce over the meatloaf or pass at the table.
