Canned Cherry Pie Filling image

This is for all you 'Canners' out there! This recipe can be made with other fruits as well as cherries. You are not limited in any way. Just process in a hot water bath and your good to go! Easy!

Number Of Ingredients 8

7 c white sugar
2 c water or juice from fruit
2 box cherry jello, 3 ounce
ADD:
6 c water
2 c clear jel
ADD:
7 qt cherries

Steps:

  • 1. Put sugar, water and jello in pan and Boil 1 minute - stirring all the time
  • 2. ADD: water and clear jel; Cook until clear - will be very thick. Will scorch easily - STIR!
  • 3. ADD: cherries Put into canning jars - seal up and process 20 min. in hot water bath. Note: Can use frozen cherries.
  • 4. TIP: This recipe can be used for other fruits also. You may not need as much sugar, adjust accordingly. Use different flavored jello to match fruit used.
