My Momma found this recipe years ago and once we tried it, we were hooked. My copy of the recipe has so many spots on it, from splatter of the mixer. 3 c sugar
1 1/2 c butter, room temperature
6 eggs
3 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 c apple cider
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c chopped nuts
GLAZE
1/4 c butter, room temperature
1/2 c sugar
1/4 c buttermilk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking soda

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 2. Stir together all dry ingredients; set aside.
  • 3. Combine cider and vanilla.
  • 4. Add dry ingredients alternately with cider mixture to batter. Mix until well blended.
  • 5. Fold in nuts. Spoon into a greased 10-in bundt pan
  • 6. Bake at 325° for 1 hour 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • 7. Glaze: Combine icing ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour warm glaze over cake slices
