3 tablespoons butter
1 lb shrimp, deveined with tails removed
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon red chili flakes
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
3 tablespoons lemon juice

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
  • Spread the shrimp around in the pan in a single layer, sprinkling the salt and pepper on top, then cook until the butter is starting to turn a dark brown. Flip the shrimp, add the garlic and chili flakes, and cook for about 15-30 seconds.
  • Add the parsley and lemon juice, reducing the lemon juice down to a sauce, then remove from heat.
  • Serve and enjoy!

3 large cloves garlic, smashed, or more to taste
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
2 teaspoons seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®), or to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 teaspoons lemon zest

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat until warm, 2 to 3 minutes. Add shrimp, garlic, and pepper flakes all at once and stir together. Add seafood seasoning, salt, and black pepper and mix until combined.
  • Cook and stir until shrimp are bright pink on the outside and the meat is opaque, 3 to 5 minutes.

5 large shrimp
1/2 cup barbecue sauce, recipe follows
Drizzle horseradish sauce, recipe follows
1 large onion, chopped
2 cups orange juice
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
1 quart ketchup
1/2 cup lime juice
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 tablespoons dry mustard
2 tablespoons hot paprika
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
1 heaping teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoon hot sauce
2 tablespoons tamarind paste
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup pure horseradish
1/4 cup Creole mustard
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Peel shrimp, leaving head and tail on. Place barbecue sauce in skillet and set on medium heat. Place shrimp in skillet and cook until they turn pink, approximately 2 minutes on 1 side, and 1 1/2 minutes on the other side. Remove shrimp from skillet and place on plate, pouring any extra sauce from the skillet on top of the shrimp. Drizzle a small amount of horseradish sauce on top of the shrimp and serve.
  • Place onions in a food processor with the motor running and then add 1/2 cup of orange juice. In a large pot, melt butter on medium heat and add the onion puree. Add the 1 1/2 cups of orange juice and the rest of the ingredients. Stir and cook on low heat for approximately 25 minutes.
  • Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use.

While looking for answers about an old 1920-30's recipe that that I found I ran across this one which is similar to Grandma's Ammonia Cookies. I want to make this until I get the correct measurements on the other one. These are very fragile, light, tender lemon cookies.

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking ammonia
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg white
1/2 cup milk
2 1/4 teaspoons lemon extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F Prepare baking sheet(s) by greasing or by lining with Kitchen Parchment.
  • Thoroughly combine the flour, salt and Bakers' Ammonia. Set aside.
  • Cream shortening and sugar well. Add egg white and beat until light.
  • Add flour mixture to shortening mixture alternately with milk.
  • Add lemon extract.
  • Roll out and cut into 3" squares. Bake about 8 minutes.

1 (16 ounce) package fresh linguine pasta
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 lemon, zested and juiced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Coat shrimp with salt and pepper. Cook and stir shrimp in the hot oil until opaque, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Cook linguine in the boiling water until tender yet firm to the bite, 1 to 3 minutes.
