This recipe comes from my Aunt Bonnie and tastes heavenly!!! It has a wonderful flavor and is great with garlic bread and a salad.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lbs ground beef
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
30 ounces tomato sauce
16 ounces egg noodles
1 pint sour cream
8 ounces cream cheese
onion powder
2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Brown the ground beef then drain and add sugar, salt, garlic powder and tomato sauce. Let simmer 10 minutes.
  • Boil 16 oz egg noodles, drain, and add sour cream and cream.
  • cheese and onion powder to taste.
  • Layer ½ meat mixture, noodles, and then repeat in oblong pan.
  • Sprinkle with 2 cups mozzarella and 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated. Bake at 350 for 20.

1 pound ground round
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 clove crushed garlic
2 8 ounce cans tomato sauce
8 ounces boiled noodles
8 ounce package cream cheese
1/2 pint sour cream
6 green onions-chopped

Steps:

  • Brown the ground beef and add salt, sugar, garlic and tomato sauce. Simmer 20 minutes Pour beef mixture into 2 quart casserole and add remaining ingredients and mix. Bake for 20 minutes @ 350 degrees. Enjoy!

This was a staple when my mom was dieting, as it's an OLD Weight Watcher's recipe ... doesn't taste like diet food tho'. I have found that it is vastly adaptable as I have also made it with ground turkey, ground chicken, cubed chicken and just a variety of seasonal veggies. As long as you have the basics, be creative.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 pkg egg noodles
1/4 c water
1/4 c small yellow onion, diced
1/4 c celery, diced
1 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or better)
1x14.5 oz canned diced tomatos, with liquid
4 slice american cheese slices
to taste salt & pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Cook noodles as per package directions
  • 2. While waiting for noodles, lightly sauté onions & celery in water, 2-3 minutes (not quite tender crisp)
  • 3. Add ground beef and cook until done
  • 4. Add diced tomatoes, with liquid. Reduce heat and simmer (until noodles are done.)
  • 5. Drain noodles and add to meat mixture, stirring in completely.
  • 6. Place cheese slices on top. Cover until melted. Stir and serve.
