HEARTY SAUSAGE CHILI

- In a large saucepan, saute sausage and peppers in oil until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. , Stir in the tomatoes, beans, chili sauce, chili powder and cumin. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes or until heated through. Serve with sour cream if desired.

- Crumble sausage into a large nonstick skillet. Add onion; cook and stir over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain., Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Stir in remaining ingredients except green onions. Cook, covered, on low 4-5 hours or until chicken is no longer pink. Serve with green onions if desired.

Steps:
- Saute ground beef in a large, heavy skillet, drain and set aside. Cut sausage into 1/2 inch slices then cut each slice in half. In the same pan, saute sausage until lightly browned. Set aside with the ground beef. In the same pan, saute onions and green pepper in olive oil over medium heat until soft but not brown. Add garlic and saute 2 minutes more. Add ground beef and sausage back into pan with remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered for 1 hour. Serve with a garnish of sour cream and/or grated cheddar cheese, if desired.
