Family Favorite Stuffed French Bread image

Stuffed french bread is an excellent meal choice for a busy family. In a short amount of time, you'll have a delicious hot homemade meal with easy cleanup. After baking, slice the loaves into easy to hold individual mini sandwiches.

1 Loaf of French Bread
1 pound Ground beef
1/2 cup Onion, diced
1 5-oz can Evaporated milk
1 Egg, beaten
1/2 cup Oats, uncooked, quick or regular
1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Steak sauce (such as A-1)
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
3 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded (2 cups for beef mixture, 1 cup for topping)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Slice the french bread in half lengthwise. Press down the inside of each half with your fingers, (or remove some of the bread) creating an indention to hold the meat mixture. Place each half onto a baking sheet.
  • Brown and crumble the ground beef with the onion until the beef is done, remove from heat, and drain off the fat. Mix in the evaporated milk, egg, oats, mustard, steak sauce, salt, pepper, and 2 cups cheddar cheese.
  • Stuff equally into each half, top with remaining 1 cup cheese, and bake for about 20 minutes. Midway through cooking, check to see if the edges of the bread are browning too quickly. If so, loosely cover the loaves with foil and continue baking.
  • After baking, slice into hand-held size serving pieces.

1 cup salsa
1 medium green pepper, chopped
2 cans (2-1/4 ounces each) sliced ripe olives, drained
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 loaf (1 pound) unsliced French bread
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the salsa, green pepper, olives, salt, chili powder, garlic and cumin. 1 unsliced loaf French bread (1 pound)
1 pound ground beef
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 celery rib, chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 slices American cheese, halved

Steps:

  • Cut off top of bread. Carefully hollow out bottom of loaf, leaving a 1/2-in. shell. Cut removed bread into small cubes; set aside. In a skillet, brown beef; drain. Add soup, green pepper, celery, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Cook and stir 3-4 minutes. Stir in the reserved bread cubes. Spread into bread shell; top with cheese. Replace bread top. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

4 slices reduced-fat process American cheese product
1 large egg white, lightly beaten

  • In a large skillet, cook the beef, onion and pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. 1 loaf French bread
1 lb hamburger
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 can tomatoes, chopped (I use Rotel)
1/2 cup celery, chopped (optional)
1 bell pepper, chopped
1/2-3/4 medium onion, chopped
1 -2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or to taste)
6 -8 slices cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Cut loaf of bread in half, lenghtwise and hollow it out, (save the crumbs).
  • Brown hamburger and drain.
  • Mix all ingredients except cheese slices in a LARGE frying pan.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in bread crumbs and fill shell with mixture.
  • Cut cheese slices in half to make triangles and put on top.
  • Bake for 5-8 minutes at 350 degrees to melt cheese.

1 medium onion, chopped

1/2 c club crackers, crushed
1 large egg
2/3 c evaporated milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 Tbsp mustard

1 c shredded cheddar cheese or any other cheese you prefer

  • 1. Pre-Heat oven to *350. Cut french bread into half, (length wise) put on cookie sheet.

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon salt

8 ounces Velveeta cheese, sliced

  • Cook hamburger and onion, drain grease.
  • Add soup and spices, simmer 5-10 minutes.

500 g bread flour (4 cups)
5 g salt (1t)
7 g yeast, 1 (1/4 ounce package)
325 g warm water (1 1/2 cups)
8 ounces hot water, for spraying oven walls

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in bread maker according to manufacturer instructions. The water should be about 110*F.
  • Set the machine to dough cycle and start the machine.
  • When the dough is finished roll onto a floured surface.
  • Roll the dough to about an 1 1/4" -2 inch thickness (depending on how tall you want your buns.).
  • Flour a 3 1/2 inch cutter (I use a glass) and press straight down to cut out the bun.
  • Place buns on a greased baking sheet and cover with a tea towell for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • Place buns in oven, then using a water bottle sprayer, squirt hot water all around the hot oven, but not near the light bulb. Wait 30 seconds and spray again, do this one more time and let the buns bake.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 mins (ovens vary in temp). Check halfway way through and turn the pan.
  • Cool on a wire rack and enjoy!
