How to make Sugar Spice and Everything Nice Mixed Nuts

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 large egg white
1 cup cashews, unsalted
1/2 cup pecan halves, unsalted
1/2 cup almonds, whole and unsalted
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon Paula Deen Collection Southern Spice Rub
1/2 teaspoon Paula Deen Collection Paprika Spice Blend
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil and set aside. In a large bowl whisk one egg until foamy. Stir in the nuts until well coated (any combination of nuts will work). Stir in sugar and Paula Deen spices and rosemary; toss with nuts until coated. Pour nut mixture out onto the foil lined baking sheet, making sure to spread out in an even layer. Bake, stirring often, until golden-about 20-25 minutes . Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

I wasn't satisfied with any spiced nut recipes I tried, so I created my own crunchy concoction. They're great to take to a party or to give as a tasty holiday gift.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
4-1/2 teaspoons water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups mixed nuts

Steps:

  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 45 seconds. Stir; cook 30-60 seconds longer or until syrupy. Add nuts; stir to coat., Spread into a microwave-safe 9-in. pie plate. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 3 to 3-1/2 minutes or until syrup is bubbly. Immediately spread onto a greased baking sheet. Cool; break into pieces.
