¾ cup white sugar
¾ cup light brown sugar
½ cup butter
½ cup butter-flavored shortening
2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extract
1 orange, zested and juiced
2 eggs
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups dark chocolate chips (such as Hershey's®)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Very lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • Beat white sugar, brown sugar, butter, shortening, vanilla extract, and orange juice together using an electric mixer in a mixing bowl until creamy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and orange zest in another bowl. Stir into butter mixture. Fold in chocolate chips lightly. Chill dough in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  • Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until light golden brown and still soft, but set in the middle, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar, divided
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup finely grated orange zest
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted

Steps:

  • Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate 15 minutes. , On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 2-in. cookie cutter or shape into 2x1-in. rectangles. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Combine orange zest and remaining sugar; spread thin layer over cookies., Bake at 350° for 14-16 minutes or until the edges just begin to brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. Melt chocolate chips; decorate cookies.

1 cup butter, softened
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped blanched almonds
GLAZE:
5 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup finely chopped blanched almonds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a large bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, sugar and salt until blended. Beat in orange zest and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour. Stir in almonds., Shape dough into 1-in. balls; place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with bottom of a glass dipped in sugar., Bake until firm, 20-25 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely. , For glaze, in a microwave, melt chocolate and butter; stir until smooth. Dip each cookie halfway in chocolate; allow excess to drip off. 1 cup sour cream
2 large eggs
1 can (6 ounces) orange juice concentrate, thawed, divided
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons grated orange zest
FROSTING:
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1 tablespoon reserved orange juice concentrate
2 tablespoons whole milk

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add sour cream and eggs. Beat until well blended. Reserve 1 tablespoon orange juice concentrate for frosting. 2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup unsalted butter
½ cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 ½ cups chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt into and set aside. Cream butter, sugars, orange zest and vanilla extract together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time beating well after adding each one. Add dry ingredients and stir until combined. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts and mix until well blended.
