The best beef and egg noodles you'll ever have. Affordable, quick, and yummy! I have to give credit to my grandma. She used to cook this for her 5 kids and then later for all her grandkids.

1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, sliced
1 cup beef stock
2 bay leaves
1 pinch dried thyme
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 cup frozen peas
1 tablespoon cornstarch
4 cups egg noodles

Steps:

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat; cook steak, working in batches, until seared and browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Transfer seared steak to a plate.
  • Melt butter in the same skillet over medium heat and saute onion until softened, 5 to 10 minutes. Add steak to onion and pour beef stock over steak; season with bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover skillet with a lid, and simmer until steak is tender, 50 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. Stir peas and cornstarch into steak mixture; cook uncovered until liquid thickens, about 10 minutes.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 5 minutes; drain. Serve beef mixture over noodles.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 beef cube steaks (6 ounces each)
1 to 2 tablespoons canola oil
1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
3 green onions, thinly sliced
2/3 cup water
1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1/8 teaspoon pepper
7 to 8 tablespoons sour cream
Hot cooked egg noodles

Steps:

  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour and salt. Add cube steaks, one at a time. Seal bag and shake to coat. , In a large skillet, cook the steaks in oil over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side or until browned and tender. Remove and keep warm., In the same skillet, saute mushrooms and onions until tender. Add the water, bouillon and pepper; cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil, scraping up browned bits from bottom of pan. Reduce heat; stir in sour cream and heat through (do not boil). Return meat to pan; heat through. Serve with noodles.

The basic recipe was handed down from a friend. I added the sliced onion and substituted the 3 cans of cream of mushroom soup with 1 can of cream of mushroom soup with garlic and 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup original. I also added the egg noodles which serves the gravy texture wonderfully.

2 (10.75 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup with garlic
1 cup water
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix (such as Lipton®)
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 yellow onion, sliced
4 (4 ounce) beef cube steaks
⅔ (12 ounce) package egg noodles

Steps:

  • Whisk cream of mushroom soup, water, and onion soup mix in a slow cooker until thoroughly combined.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion in the hot oil until browned, about 20 minutes. Transfer onion to a bowl, leaving oil in skillet.
  • Brown cube steaks in the hot skillet, about 5 minutes per side. Place cube steaks into slow cooker and top with onions. Cook on Low until cube steaks are tender, 5 to 6 hours.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain. Serve cube steaks and mushroom gravy over egg noodles.

2 lbs beef stew meat
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons sherry wine
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 teaspoon sugar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 small white onion, chopped
3/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon marjoram
1 teaspoon parsley
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
salt, to taste
12 -16 ounces wide egg noodles
1 -2 tablespoon butter (optional)

Steps:

  • Place beef cubes into crockpot. Add all remaining ingredients EXCEPT egg noodles. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Just before beef is done, cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain. Use optional butter for the cooked noodles, if desired.
  • Serve beef mixture over hot cooked noodles.

4 beef cube steaks
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 small onion, diced
5 stalks of asparagus, cut into small pieces
1 large can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 can of water
salt and black pepper, to taste
1 package egg noodles, cooked per directions

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium skillet brown cube steaks in 1 tablespoon olive oil. 2. In another small skillet saute asparagus and onions until onions are clear, season with salt and pepper. 3. Place asparagus and onions on top of steaks and add cream of mushroom soup and water. 4. Simmer for a 1/2 hour. 5. Cook egg noodles per package instructions and drain. 6. In a large mixing bowl combine noodles and mushroom soup mixture
