2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee or 2 tablespoons espresso
1/2 teaspoon Equal sugar substitute or 1/2 teaspoon Splenda sugar substitute

  • Mix all ingredients together in a pitcher; stir briefly.
  • Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to one day.

This is a copy of Coke's version. Back in 2008, The Coca-Cola Company did away with this product. I was bummed when they discontinued it. I thought it had a good flavor (combination of cream soda, Coca-Cola and coffee).

1/4 tsp natrasweet (equal, splendia, 1 packet)
1 can(s) 12-oz coca-cola
1 can(s) 12-oz a & w cream soda

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 can (12 ounces) cola
1 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup baking cocoa
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
GLAZE:
1 can (12 ounces) cola
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup baking cocoa
4 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 13x9-in. baking pan., In a large bowl, whisk the first 5 ingredients. In a small saucepan, combine cola, butter and cocoa; bring just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until moistened., In a small bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk and vanilla until blended; add to flour mixture, whisking constantly., Transfer to prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean., About 15 minutes before cake is done, prepare glaze. In a small saucepan, bring cola to a boil; cook 12-15 minutes or until liquid is reduced to 1/2 cup. Stir in butter and cocoa until butter is melted; remove from heat. Add confectioners' sugar; stir until smooth. Pour immediately over hot cake.
