MAPLE-NUT-CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE BARS
Maple is a flavor that can go far beyond pancakes, as these nutty, chocolaty, frosted bars prove. They're made with a shortcut start from Betty Crocker™ chocolate chip cookie mix, and get finished with a scratch maple buttercream that's well worth a little bit of extra effort.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 9-inch square pan with cooking spray.
- In large bowl, mix cookie mix, 1/2 cup softened butter, the egg and 1/2 teaspoon maple extract with spoon until soft dough forms. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts. Spread dough evenly in pan.
- Bake 20 to 24 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour 30 minutes.
- In medium bowl, beat powdered sugar, 1/4 cup softened butter, 2 tablespoons of the milk and 1/4 teaspoon maple extract with spoon until smooth and fluffy. If frosting is too stiff to spread, add additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time. Frost top of bar. Sprinkle 1/4 cup walnuts on top. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.
- Store loosely covered.

- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt; cut.
- in margarine until crumbly.
- stir in 1 beaten egg.
- Press evenly in a 9x13" pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in medium bowl, beat sweetened condensed milk, remaining egg and flavoring; stir in nuts.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the prepared crust. Top with the nut mixture. Bake for 25 minutes more or until lightly brown.
- Cool. Cut into bars.
- Store tightly covered at room temperature. Makes 24-36 bars.

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in 1 beaten egg. Press mixture evenly onto bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake 25 minutes.
- In medium bowl, beat sweetened condensed milk, remaining 1 egg and maple flavoring; stir in nuts. Set aside.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over prepared crust. Gently spread nut mixture evenly over chocolate.
- Return to oven. Bake 25 minutes or until golden. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
- Cut into bars. Store tightly covered at room temperature.
