1 large onion, sliced
4 tablespoons butter, softened, divided
8 slices Texas toast
2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
1/2 pound thinly sliced deli ham
1 medium apple, sliced
4 slices Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook onion in 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown, stirring frequently. , Spread remaining butter over 1 side of each slice of Texas toast. Place slices, buttered side down, on a griddle. Spread with mustard; layer with ham, apple, onion and cheese. Top with another slice of toast, buttered side up. Cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully turn; cook 2 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

5 bacon strips, diced
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour

4 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
2 cups whole milk
3 cups cubed Velveeta
1/2 cup sliced pimiento-stuffed olives
1/2 cup grated carrots
2 tablespoons sherry, optional
Minced fresh parsley

  • In a Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Using a slotted spoon, remove to paper towels to drain. This sandwich is a little bit out there, but in a nice way. It is sweet and hearty with a little crunch and a lot of holiday flavour. This was created especially for the Craze-E contest and I hope its not too crazy for you to try. ;)

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 tablespoons cream cheese (low-fat is fine)
1 tablespoon brown sugar (I used half dark and half light brown sugar)
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1 pinch ground cloves
1 pinch ground ginger
2 pinches chili powder
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon pistachios, chopped finely
8 slices dark rye bread or 8 slices other whole wheat bread
4 slices havarti cheese (one slice should be the size of your bread slice, otherwise use two)
4 tablespoons strawberry jam

Steps:

  • Prepare the spiced cream cheese by combining all of the ingredients in a bowl and stirring until well blended.
  • When youre ready for assembly spread cream cheese on 4 of the bread slices. You can add as much as you like, but Id recommend about 1 tbs per slice. Top with a slice of havarti cheese.
  • On top of the cheese put about 1 tbs of strawberry jam and spread it a bit. Finish your sandwich by topping it with the second slice of bread pressing down a bit. Enjoy!
