CABBAGE PATCH STEW GETS A BLACK EYE
Okay you may have tried Cabbage Patch Stew in the past but in this recipe the black-eyed peas combine with the cabbage to make a hearty and delicious meal. The dish is made lighter by using lean turkey and delicious chicken stock.

Steps:
- Heat the olive oil in a dutch oven over medium high heat. Add in the chopped onion and cook until wilted. Crumble in the ground turkey and cook until it is no longer pink. Add in the garlic, celery, bell pepper and carrots. Continue to saute until vegetables are wilted.
- Add in the drained black-eyed peas, tomatoes and green chili, 3 cups chicken stock, ketchup, cabbage, chili powder and oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low heat for 45 to 60 minutes or until vegetables are cooked through. Last 15 to 20 minutes check and if needed add in additional stock.
- Serve in bowls with corn bread. Garnish with green onions and sliced radishes.

Steps:
- Open all cans and pour into large stew pot on meduim heat. (Also add in your one can of water).
- In skillet cook up your turkey with a little water to keep moist. When its nearly cooked add your minced garlic and sliced onion. Cook until meat is done.
- Drain meat and add to pot.
- Add carrots, celery, leeks and napa cabbage.
- Let the pot cook for at least an hours Add in salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot. Healthy and Yummy!
- This also freezes well.

Oh my goodness, I just found this recipe. I had forgotten all about it. Ths recipe goes back in my family 60+ years ago. A family favorite at the time. It is very easy to make. Was my favorite to make as a teenager. I loved to cook for my family. My mom worked so I helped out after school. Making this for supper tonight.

- 1. 1. Brown the ground beef in a 2 qt pot,
- 2. 2 Add the onions, celery and cabbage; cook until vegtables are yellowed.
- 3. 3. Add about 2 cups of water to cover.
- 4. 4. Except for the potatoes, add the rest of the items to the pot.
- 5. 5. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- 6. 6. Serve in bowls, topped with hot mashed potatoes.

MAMMA'S CABBAGE PATCH STEW
My Mom used to make a stew similar to this one. She didn't use kidney beans in hers. Since I have some picky eaters in my house I will use my mamma's recipe. I love this and its so simple.I like serving it with slices of Cheese and a dollop of sour cream. Hope you enjoy this.
