If you've ever hosted a football party, you can testify to the universal appeal of "buffalo chicken" anything. In a cheesy dip form, as a sauce coating hot wings, or as crispy buffalo chicken poppers, the buffalo chicken appetizer rarely sees the second life of leftovers. We've developed a recipe for a soft, cheesy, and flavor-packed Buffalo Chicken Pull-Apart Bread. By making a homemade buffalo sauce out of hot sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and some seasonings, we mix in cream cheese and sharp cheddar cheese before folding in some shredded chicken. We then spread this filling in between layers of store-bought biscuit dough to make a loaf of bread that bakes into easily pulled apart pieces of soft bread lathered in buffalo chicken. While its easy to tear apart, you'll still probably want to eat it with a fork because its gooey goodness coats every inch of the biscuit dough.

4 ounces cream cheese
1/3 cup hot sauce*
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, divided
3 green onions, thinly sliced
9 ounces cooked chicken, shredded
1 (16-oz.) tube buttermilk biscuit dough

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a standard-size loaf pan liberally with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix together cream cheese, hot sauce, mayonnaise, honey, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, salt, and garlic powder until well combined. Add 1 cup cheddar cheese and 2/3 of the sliced green onions. Mix to combine. Fold chicken into mixture.
  • Remove biscuit dough from tube and separate into individual biscuits. Slice each biscuit in half horizontally. Take each biscuit half and press into 3.5-inch wide rounds. Spread 1 heaping spoonful of the chicken mixture evenly onto the surface of a biscuit half. Making a stack, layer another half-biscuit round and heaping spoonful of chicken mixture on top of the first, and repeat process until you place the final biscuit layer on top. Do not top the final layer with chicken. Invert this stack sideways into prepared loaf pan, gently pressing to fit the mold of the pan. Cover with aluminum foil and bake until puffed and lightly golden around edges, about 45 minutes
  • Remove aluminum foil, sprinkle surface with remaining 1/4 cup cheese and bake until cheese is melted, about 15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before removing loaf from pan and garnishing with remaining chopped green onions.

1 packet active dry yeast
¾ cup warm water
¼ cup sugar, divided, plus 1/2 teaspoon
1 cup all purpose flour, plus more for dusting
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 large eggs
½ cup canola oil
3 tablespoons honey
nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
3 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
½ cup Frank's RedHot® Buffalo Wings Sauce, plus more for serving
2 oz cream cheese, room temperature
2 scallions, minced
1 ½ cups white cheddar cheese, shredded
1 large egg
1 teaspoon water

Steps:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the yeast, warm water, and ½ teaspoon sugar. Let sit until bubbly, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the remaining ¼ cup sugar, the all-purpose flour, bread flour, salt, eggs, canola oil, and honey. Fit the mixer with the dough hook and mix on low speed until combined, about 1 minute. Increase the speed to medium and continue mixing, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed, until a smooth ball forms, 5-7 minutes.
  • Grease a large bowl with nonstick spray. Add the dough, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest at room temperature until the dough is almost doubled in size, 1½-2 hours.
  • Meanwhile, make the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, Frank's RedHot® Buffalo Wing Sauce, cream cheese, and minced scallions. Mix well.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a large pizza sheet with parchment paper.
  • Make the egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water until combined.
  • Divide the dough into 3 equal portions and transfer to a lightly floured surface. Roll 1 portion into a 12-inch round and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Spread half of the chicken filling evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over the filling.
  • Roll out another dough portion and place on top of the cheese. Layer the remaining filling and cheese over the dough. Roll out the last dough portion and place it on top. Press the edges together to seal.
  • Use a cup to gently mark a 3-inch circle in the center of the dough. Using a sharp knife, make 16 equal cuts from the edges of the center circle to the edges of the dough. Take 2 adjacent portions of dough and twist toward each other 2 or 3 times. Pinch the ends of the dough together. Repeat with remaining sections of dough until there are 6 points to the star. Brush the egg wash evenly over the bread.
  • Bake until golden brown, 25-30 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
  • Drizzle more Frank's RedHot® Buffalo Wings Sauce over the star and serve with more sauce for dipping.

One 8-ounce boneless, skinless chicken breast
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Kosher salt
1 large egg
1/4 cup mild hot sauce, such as Frank's, plus more as needed
1/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
One 12- to 14-inch baguette
4 slices mozzarella
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Carrot and celery sticks, for serving
Blue cheese dressing, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Tear off 2 pieces of foil about 12 inches longer than the baguette and stack on top of each other.
  • Cut the chicken crosswise into 4 equal pieces. Set up a breading station with 3 shallow dishes: Stir together the flour and 1 teaspoon salt in the first dish; beat the egg and 3 tablespoons of the hot sauce in the second dish and add the breadcrumbs to the third dish. Coat each strip of chicken first in the flour, then dip in the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off. Then press into the breadcrumbs. Transfer to a plate.
  • Line a second plate with a paper towel. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat until a piece of the breading sizzles when added. Add the breaded chicken to the oil, making sure the pieces don't touch. Fry until golden brown on both sides, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove to the lined plate.
  • Cut the baguette into 4 equal pieces (about the same length as the chicken pieces). Use a paring knife to hollow out the insides of each piece of baguette.
  • Lay a piece of chicken on top of a slice of mozzarella and dash with a little more hot sauce if desired. Wrap the cheese around the chicken and stuff inside one of the baguette pieces. Repeat with the remaining chicken, cheese, hot sauce (if using) and bread pieces. Slice each stuffed baguette piece into thirds and arrange them together tightly on top of the foil.
  • Put the butter, garlic and remaining 1 tablespoon hot sauce in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the butter is melted. Pour the mixture over the top of the baguette pieces and fold the foil over to enclose the baguette.
  • Bake until the chicken is cooked through, the cheese is melted and the top of the bread is starting to turn brown, 30 to 35 minutes. Transfer the foil pack to a cutting board and unwrap. Serve with carrots, celery, hot sauce and blue cheese dressing on the side.

12 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup mayonnaise

1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles (up to 1/2 cup if you LOVE blue cheese), plus more to garnish, optional (only if you love it)
1 cup freshly grated sharp Cheddar cheese, separated
1 cup mozzarella cheese, separated
4 cups packed shredded cooked chicken (about 1 1/2 pounds)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Slice about 2 inches deep through the top of the bread and continue to cut a large rectangle, being careful not to cut through the bottom of the bread. Remove top of bread and hollow out middle to create a rectangular bread bowl. Set aside.
  • Whisk together cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, hot sauce, ranch seasoning, salt, chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder in a bowl until well combined. Stir in blue cheese, 3/4 cup Cheddar and 3/4 cup mozzarella, followed by chicken.
  • Spoon Buffalo chicken dip into prepared French bread and top with remaining Cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Bake on a baking tray for 35 to 45 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown. Let bread sit approximately 10 minutes to set and slightly cool, then slice. Best served warm. Garnish with blue cheese if desired.

1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 jalapeño, chopped
1 cup taco sauce
20 taco-size tortillas
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3 cups shredded monterey jack cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375˚F (190˚C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, add the chicken, onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño, and taco sauce, and mix to combine. Set aside.
  • Cut each tortilla in half. Evenly add about 2 tablespoons each of the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and chicken mixture to each tortilla half.
  • Roll the tortillas into cones, starting fro the cut edge and making sure not to push the ingredients out of the tortilla.
  • Place a wide mouth jar or glass in the center of the baking sheet.
  • Create a ring around the jar with about 13 tortilla cones. The points of the cones should be in the center, touching the jar. Sprinkle cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the layer. Repeat with the remaining cones to make 2 more layers, finishing with the rest of the cheddar and Monterey Jack. Remove the jar from the center of the ring.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and the edges of the tortillas are crispy, 15-20 minutes.
  • Carefully transfer the blooming quesadilla to a serving platter. Place your dip of choice inside the ring and top with your desired garnishes. Serve immediately.

1 sourdough loaf
3/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded
1 tbsp. buffalo wing sauce
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 tbsp. green onions, thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

Steps:

  • Cut the bread lengthwise and widthwise into squares without cutting through the bottom crust. Place on a foiled lined baking sheet. In a small bowl stir together the chicken breast and hot sauce. Place bits of chicken mixture and crumbled blue cheese randomly between the cuts of bread, pressing in slightly. Combine melted butter, onion and garlic. This is your opportunity to add a tsp. or 2 of additional buffalo wing sauce. Pour over bread. Wrap foil around the bread to cover tightly. Bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap the bread and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and begins to brown slightly.

2 boneless chicken breasts
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 pizza dough
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
3 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup frank, wing sauce
1/3 cup ranch dressing or 1/3 cup blue cheese dressing

Steps:

  • Cut chicken into cubes. Season with salt and pepper. Heat teaspoon of olive oil in skillet and add chicken when hot. Cook chicken completely and then add 1/4 cup of wing sauce. Stir to coat chicken and let simmer for a minute or two. Take chicken off heat and let cool.
  • Pre-heat oven to 425°F.
  • On a well floured surface, spread pizza dough into a long rectangle shape. Add ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing (depending on your preference!) and remaining 1/4 cup of wing sauce. Spread across the dough. Add chicken and then top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. You can also add a bit more of the wing sauce on top of the cheese if you want it to be a little bit spicier.
  • Starting on one of the short ends, roll it up until you reach the other end. Make sure to tuck the ends of the dough in so the middle doesn't 'ooze' out when baking.
  • Spray baking sheet with light coat of non-stick cooking spray. Place garbage bread on the pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Let sit for five minutes and cut into and enjoy!
