BOURBON CITRUS SLUSH

Bourbon Citrus Slush image

This is my favorite summertime drink, sitting on the patio enjoying life. Given to me by my college friend's Mom. Very enjoyable and thirst-quenching without being overpowering. They are the perfect light cocktail. When ready to serve, scoop out enough frozen mixture to fill your glass 1/2- to 3/4-full and top off with 7Up®, gingerale, lemon-lime, or grapefruit soda.

With a subtle bourbon flavor, this yummy drink will appeal to a wide range of party guests. We think even people who say they don't like bourbon, will like this. The citrus flavors are what shine in this adult beverage. After this cocktail sits in the glass for a while, it gets nice and slushy. A perfect cocktail for summer...

This is a great drink/slushie for people who don't like the taste of hard liquor. It's sweet and tangy. Be careful though, you'll be feeling it quick if you don't keep track of how much you've had. It creeps up on you fast.

Delicious summer drink. I've seen a couple recipes on this site, but I think mine probably isn't as sweet. It's been described as "a long island iced tea with bourbon." We keep some in the freezer all summer long!

BOURBON SLUSH

Bourbon Slush image

I received this recipe about 20 years ago at our office party and I have made it mine. I serve it everytime I have a get-together. When I invite my guests to the party, the first thing I am asked is, are you serving the slush?? Everyone just loves it and your going to love it too!

Provided by Judy Welch @working925

Categories     Cocktails

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 ea. - teabags (regular size)
1 cup(s) Boiling water
1/2 cup(s) Sugar
1 can(s) orange juice, frozen concentrate (small can)
1 can(s) lemon juice concentrate (small can)
1/2 cup(s) Bourbon (I use Crown Royal, but any will do)
3 3/4 cup(s) water, cold

Steps:

  • Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the teabags and let sit until the tea is a dark color.
  • Pour warm tea over the 1/2 cup sugar and mix well.
  • Add the orange juice and lemonade to this and stir good.
  • Add the bourbon and remaining 3 3/4 cups of water.
  • Note:Taste this mixture, if not strong enough to suit your taste add a little more bourbon. I would not add more than a 1/4 cup more bourbon. Mix this well and pour into a plastic pitcher with top and put in freezer. Freeze over night.
  • When ready to serve , remove from freezer and spoon about 1/2 glass full of slush into glass and then fill remaining half of the glass with 7-up or Sprite.
  • I always double this recipe (If doubled it fits well into a gallon pitcher for freezing. You will probably have to freeze it for a day longer if doubling into the gallon size). I made 3 double recipes at Christmas for 50 people and I had just enough left over for News Years Eve. You can freeze any leftovers for about a month. I ususally just put the left over in a gallon plastic bag and freeze it.
  • Info: I use Crown Royal and 7-up because thats what I like the best. But I have used Seagrams before and somefolks liked it better. Sprite is good too but it's a little sweet for me so I prefer the 7-up. It's up to you.
