BLACKBERRY-BLACK PEPPER COCKTAIL

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 blackberries, plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1 sprig mint, plus more for garnish
2 ounces vodka
1/2 to 1 cup club soda

Steps:

  • Combine the blackberries, lemon juice, sugar, pepper, mint and vodka in a highball glass. Muddle with the back of a wooden spoon. Fill the glass with ice, and top off with club soda. Stir. Garnish with blackberries and a mint sprig. Serve immediately.

I tasted this last night for the first time and loved it. The black peppercorn syrup is great. I will be making these often. Cook time includes time to make syrup but not cooling time.

2 1/2 ounces hendricks gin
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
ice
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon whole black peppercorn
1 tablespoon cracked black peppercorns

Steps:

  • For Black Peppercorn Syrup:.
  • Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved.
  • Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to bring mixture to a simmer; cook for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  • Strain the cooled syrup and refrigerate it in a container with a tightfitting lid.
  • For Martini:.
  • Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Stir with a bar spoon, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
