BEER AND BROWN SUGAR STEAK MARINADE

Beer and Brown Sugar Steak Marinade image

I concocted this marinade on a lark and it turned out great. The flavors complement and do not overwhelm the natural taste of beef.

Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Beef     Steaks     Sirloin Steak Recipes

Time 1h10m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 (16 ounce) beef sirloin steaks
¼ cup dark beer
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon seasoned salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the steaks, and place steaks in a large baking dish. In a bowl, mix together beer, teriyaki sauce, and brown sugar. Pour sauce over steaks, and let sit about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with 1/2 the seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder; set aside for 10 minutes. Turn steaks over, sprinkle with remaining seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and continue marinating for 10 more minutes.
  • Remove steaks from marinade. Pour marinade into a small saucepan, bring to a boil, and cook for several minutes.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill steaks for 7 minutes per side, or to desired doneness. During the last few minutes of grilling, baste steaks with boiled marinade to enhance the flavor and ensure juiciness.

Pork Chops in Beer Teriyaki Marinade image

Yield Makes 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

2/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin (syrupy rice wine, available at Asian markets and some supermarkets) or sweet sherry
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons chopped fresh gingerroot
2/3 cup beer (not dark)
six 1-inch-thick rib or loin pork chops

Steps:

  • In a saucepan combine the soy sauce, the mirin, the vinegar, the sugar, the gingerroot, and the beer, simmer the mixture until it is reduced to about 1 1/3 cups, and let the marinade cool until it is room temperature. In a shallow baking dish large enough to hold the pork chops in one layer combine the pork chops and the marinade, turning the chops to coat them thoroughly, and let the chops marinate, covered and chilled, turning them several times, overnight.
  • Pour the marinade into a saucepan and boil it for 5 minutes. Grill the pork chops on an oiled rack set about 4 inches over glowing coals, basting them with the marinade during the last 5 minutes of the cooking time, for 8 minutes on each side, or until they are just cooked through. Alternatively the pork chops may be broiled on the rack of a broiler pan under a preheated broiler in the same manner.

HEINEKEN BEER STEAK MARINADE

Heineken Beer Steak Marinade image

Before you drink up all of that cold Heineken beer in the refrigerator, set a little aside for one awesome Heineken beer steak marinade recipe. Taken from steakmarinade.org and posted for ZWT.

Provided by alligirl

Categories     Dutch

Time 5m

Yield 4 cups, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups heineken beer
1 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons minced green onions
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
3 tablespoons Tabasco sauce
4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Steps:

  • Pour into mixing bowl: Heineken beer, soy sauce, minced green onions, vegetable oil, dried thyme, Tabasco pepper sauce, and fresh lemon juice. Next stir up the marinade really well, then toss on a lid and let the mixture chill for about an hour, as this will get all those flavors blended together. Once chilled, stir it up a little bit more, and it is ready for your steaks.
  • (I like to baste my steaks while they sizzle on the barbecue, so I always set aside a little marinade that hasn't touched raw meat.).

GINGER BEER PORK MARINADE

Ginger Beer Pork Marinade image

I needed a flavorful marinade to use on some pork steaks destined for the grill. I had written this recipe down some time ago, but don't remember who I had gotten it from. I wish I could remember, because they deserve a thank you...as it does wonders for cheap cuts of pork!

Time 5m

Yield 6 serving(s)

BEER MARINADE FOR STEAK

Beer Marinade for Steak image

I found this on the internet and liked the look of this recipe but I made a few changes to suit my cooking style. It seems Boomette and I tried this around the same time. We at the Lorie-House had this on ribeyes and we agree with Boomette's family that the flavor is lightly sweet but does not make the beefy flavor too sweet. If you know ribeyes, they tend to have a looser texture than say, NY Strip. I did notice a little hint of beer in the looser parts of the steak more than the firmer parts. I think if you like teriyaki, you will enjoy this, and if you like beer, choose a ribeye and if you like beer less, keep with a firmer cut like strip steak. We enjoyed here at home, liked it a LOT but not sure if it qualifies as TDF. We would give this a 4 if we were reviewing this as someone else's recipe on Zaar (really 4.5 but I would round down). Hope you enjoy! Lorie
