Time 28m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 lb ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Brioche buns
Havarti cheese
Sautéed mushrooms
Tomoatoes
Onion
Lettuce
Mayo or any spread of your choice

Steps:

  • In a frying pan heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until it becomes translucent.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Form the beef into 6 fairly thin patties. (About 5 inches in diameter) They will shrink and thicken as they cook.
  • Grill each patty on medium-high heat, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Assemble your burger according to your liking. I like to spread a little mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on each bun, then stack lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles, patty, sautéed mushrooms, and Havarti cheese.

PERFECT BEEF BURGERS

Perfect Beef Burgers image

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 20m

Yield 4 burgers

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 pounds 80% lean ground beef chuck
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
8 thin slices cheddar cheese (optional)
4 soft sesame buns, split
Bibb lettuce and sliced tomato, for topping

Steps:

  • Sprinkle the ground beef evenly with 1/2 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Gently form the meat into 4 balls, then lightly press into 4-inch-wide, 1-inch-thick patties. Make a 2-inch-wide indentation in the center of each with your thumb to prevent the burgers from bulging when grilled.
  • Preheat a grill to high. Season the patties with salt and pepper. Grill, undisturbed, until marked on the bottom, 3 to 5 minutes. Turn and grill until the other side is marked and the patties feel firm, 3 to 5 more minutes; if desired, top each burger with 2 slices cheese during the last 2 minutes of cooking and cover with a disposable aluminum pan to melt.
  • Serve the patties on the buns; top with lettuce and tomato.

BUCKET SHOP BEEFBURGERS

Bucket Shop Beefburgers image

The Bucket Shop in St. Joseph, MO sold what they called Beefburgers. It was a "loose meat" sandwich that was a favorite of my grandparents, and became a favorite of later generations long after the restaurant closed. Posted in the memory of Peter "Pete" Simon Chirila III, 1934-2019

1 16-oz pkg frozen chili
2 Tbsp mustard
2 Tbsp vinegar
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 c water
hot dog buns

  • 2. Add the chili, mustard, vinegar, chili powder, and water.
  • 3. Simmer for 1 hour.
  • 4. Squirt some mustard on a bun and sprinkle on some chopped onions. Spoon meat mixture over the mustard and onion.
  • 5. DON'T IGNORE GRANDMA'S RULES!!! 1. Hide the ketchup! 2. It is a felony offense if you use ketchup. 3. It is also a felony offense if you put mustard on the top. 3. ENJOY!
  • 6. UPDATE 10/09/2019: According to the family of Pete Chirila, the frozen chili was prepared and served on top (not mixed in with the beef) and did not contain vinegar.
