Valuable Tips When Making Ashley and Whitney's Yellow Squash and Tomato Packet Recipes

If you're a foodie who loves eating and cooking healthy dishes, you're probably familiar with Ashley and Whitney, the sisters behind the popular YouTube channel, Shanty2Chic. One of their most popular recipes is their Yellow Squash and Tomato Packet, a simple and delicious dish that's perfect for summer barbecues or weeknight dinners. Here are some valuable tips to keep in mind when making Ashley and Whitney's Yellow Squash and Tomato Packet Recipes:
1. Choose the Right Vegetables
The key to a great Yellow Squash and Tomato Packet is using fresh, high-quality ingredients. When choosing your vegetables, look for ripe, firm yellow squash and juicy, ripe tomatoes. If you can, buy local, organic vegetables from your farmer's market or grocery store. This will ensure that your dish is packed with the most nutrients possible.
2. Wash and Cut the Vegetables Properly
Before cutting your vegetables, be sure to thoroughly wash them under running water. Then, using a sharp knife or mandoline, slice the yellow squash and tomatoes into thin rounds. The thinner the slices, the faster they will cook, so aim for slices that are about 1/4 inch thick. Be sure to cut the vegetables evenly, so that they cook evenl
3. Season the Vegetables Well
To add flavor to your Yellow Squash and Tomato Packets, it's important to season them well. A simple combination of olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder can do wonders to enhance the flavor of the vegetables. If you want to add a little extra flavor, try tossing the vegetables in a marinade of your choice before wrapping them in foil.
4. Wrap the Vegetables Tightly in Foil
To ensure that your Yellow Squash and Tomato Packets cook evenly, it's important to wrap them tightly in foil. Use a large piece of foil, and place the sliced vegetables in the center. Fold the edges of the foil up over the vegetables, crimping the edges tightly to seal in the steam. Be sure to leave a little bit of space at the top of the packet, so that the steam can circulate and cook the vegetables.
5. Cook the Packets Over Indirect Heat
To cook your Yellow Squash and Tomato Packets, you'll want to heat up your grill to medium-high heat. Once the grill is hot, turn off one of the burners, and place the packets on the side of the grill with the burner off. This will allow the packets to cook over indirect heat, which will prevent them from burning or overcooking.
6. Check the Packets Frequently
Depending on the thickness of your vegetable slices, your Yellow Squash and Tomato Packets may take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to cook. To ensure that they cook evenly, be sure to check them frequently. You can do this by carefully opening the foil packet and poking the vegetables with a fork to check their tenderness. When the vegetables are tender, they are ready to be removed from the grill.
7. Add Cheese or Herbs, if Desired
If you want to take your Yellow Squash and Tomato Packets to the next level, consider adding some grated Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs, such as basil or parsley, to the top of the vegetables before closing the foil packet. This will add a delicious, savory flavor to the dish and make it even more irresistible. In conclusion, making Ashley and Whitney's Yellow Squash and Tomato Packet Recipes is a simple and delicious way to enjoy fresh summer vegetables.
