POMEGRANATE MARGARITA

Pomegranate Margarita image

We had these at a friend's home last evening; they were very tasty. Didn't see one on the "zaar" so thought I'd share. These are very nice for the holidays and pomegranates have been touted in the news for their antioxidant benefits. Our host said they used a little more pomegranate juice than the recipe calls for so use your own judgment.

APPLEBEE'S PERFECT MARGARITA

Applebee's Perfect Margarita image

After years of searching for the recipe, I think I finally found it. I found it at cdkitchen.com (Recipe # 75842). If you can't find simple syrup at the liquor store, you can eaily make it at home. If you have a BevMo near you, they sell it (acording to their website)but it is $5 for 12 ounces so making it at home is cheaper. Some recipes say to use equal parts sugar and water and others say to use 2 parts sugar / 1 part water. So feel free to experiment, or just use 1.5 parts sugar and 1 part water and that will probably work. To make: Pour water into saucepan. Add sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and continue stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. It should be smooth; no clumps. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature. Bottle it and store in fridge.

Valuable Tips for Making Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita

Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita is a refreshing and sweet-sour alcoholic drink that is perfect for gatherings and parties. If you're looking to make a batch of this delicious drink at home, here are some valuable tips to help you achieve the perfect flavor and texture.
Use Fresh Pomegranate Juice
One of the essential ingredients for making Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita is pomegranate juice. You can either use fresh pomegranate fruit or store-bought pomegranate juice. However, using fresh pomegranate juice will give your drink a crisp and authentic taste that you can't achieve with the packaged ones. To make fresh pomegranate juice, you'll need to cut the fruit in half and scoop out the seeds using a spoon. Place the seeds in a blender and blend until the juice is fully extracted. Strain the juice using a sieve to remove the pulp, and you'll have fresh pomegranate juice ready for your margarita.
Adjust the Sugar Level
Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita recipe calls for a considerable amount of sugar. However, you can adjust the sugar level to suit your taste preference. If you prefer sweeter drinks, add more sugar, or if you prefer a sour taste, reduce the sugar amount. Additionally, you can use a variety of sweeteners such as honey or agave syrup instead of sugar. These natural sweeteners will add a different flavor profile to your margarita, making it an even more enjoyable drink.
Use High-Quality Tequila
Tequila is the base of any margarita, and the quality of the tequila you use will affect the overall taste of your drink. Therefore, it's crucial to use high-quality tequila when making Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita. You can opt for silver tequila or reposado tequila, depending on your preference. Silver tequila has a more robust flavor profile and is ideal for cocktails with strong flavors like pomegranate. On the other hand, Reposado tequila is aged longer and has a smoother taste, making it perfect for cocktails with fruit flavors like pomegranate.
Don't Skip the Lime Juice
Lime juice is a crucial ingredient in any margarita. It helps to balance the sweetness and gives the drink a refreshing taste. When making Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita, make sure to use freshly squeezed lime juice rather than bottled juice. Fresh lime juice has a more robust and tangier flavor that complements the sweetness of the pomegranate.
Add Sparkling Water
To give your margarita a bubbly and fizzy taste, consider adding sparkling water or soda to the mix. This will not only add a refreshing twist to your drink, but it will also help to dilute the drink and reduce the sweetness. However, it's essential to add the sparkling water right before serving to prevent the drink from going flat. You can also add some ice to keep the drink cold and refreshing.
Garnish Your Margarita
Garnishing your margarita is an excellent way to give it a finishing touch and make it look appealing. You can use lime wedges, pomegranate arils, or salt to garnish your drink. To create a salt rim, cover the rim of your glass with lime juice and dip it in salt to create a rim. It's essential to note that while the salt enhances the flavor of the drink, it also increases the sodium levels. Therefore, you can skip the salt if you're watching your sodium levels.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Applebee's Pomegranate Margarita is an excellent cocktail to enjoy with friends and family. To make the perfect margarita, make sure to use fresh pomegranate juice, high-quality tequila, and freshly squeezed lime juice. Additionally, adjust the sugar level to suit your taste preference and add sparkling water for a refreshing twist. Lastly, garnish your margarita with lime wedges, pomegranate arils, or salt to create a visually appealing drink. By following these tips, you'll have an amazing, sweet-sour cocktail that everyone will love.
