DELICIOUS ANGEL HAIR IN TOMATO, TUNA AND OLIVE SAUCE

Delicious Angel Hair in Tomato, Tuna and Olive Sauce image

You'll love this blend of tomatoes, tuna and black olives in a homemade tomato sauce. My mom would make this during Lent for the family, but you'll want to make it all year round. My husband (who hates tuna), raves about this dish. It's different and very delicious. Tastes even better heated the next day. Serve with some garlic bread and a salad and you have a complete dinner.

The ingredients include: - Angel hair pasta - Tuna fish - Tomatoes (diced) - Garlic (minced) - Olive oil - Salt - Black pepper - Red pepper flakes - Fresh parsley (chopped) - Fresh basil (chopped) - Parmesan cheese Preparation Preparing the ingredients appropriately is a crucial step in making a delicious angel hair pasta with tuna and tomato sauce recipe. Below are some valuable tips on how to prepare the ingredients. 1. Pasta - Choose the right pasta: Angel hair pasta is a delicate noodle that cooks quickly and is perfect for a light and healthier meal. - Cook in salted boiling water: Add salt to boiling water before adding the pasta to enhance the flavor. Cook the pasta until al dente, which is approximately 3-5 minutes but may vary depending on the brand. - Rinse with cold water: After draining the pasta, rinse it with cold water to prevent it from sticking together. 2. Tuna fish - Use canned tuna: Canned tuna is a convenient option that eliminates the need for cooking fresh tuna. It is also more affordable and readily available. - Drain the tuna: Open the can and drain the water or oil to prevent diluting the sauce's flavor. - Flake with a fork: Use a fork to break down the tuna into small pieces that blend well with the tomato sauce. 3. Tomatoes - Use ripe tomatoes: Ripe tomatoes are sweeter and more flavorful than unripe ones. They also have a softer texture, making them easier to cook. - Dice the tomatoes: Cut the tomatoes into small chunks using a sharp knife or food processor for ease of cooking. Cooking Techniques 1. Tomato sauce - Sauté the garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant but not brown. - Add diced tomatoes: Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet and stir to combine with garlic. - Add seasoning: Season with salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and stir well. - Simmer for 10-12 minutes: Allow the mixture to simmer over low-medium heat for about 10-12 minutes until it forms a thick sauce. 2. Tuna - Add the tuna to the tomato sauce: After the sauce has simmered, add the tuna and stir until combined. - Simmer for 5 minutes: Allow the tuna to cook in the sauce over low heat for approximately 5 minutes to infuse the flavors. 3. Angel hair pasta - Add the pasta to boiling water: Cook the pasta in boiling water until al dente as explained earlier. - Toss the pasta with the sauce: Use tongs to transfer the pasta from the boiling water to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. - Garnish with herbs and cheese: Once the pasta is coated with the sauce, sprinkle fresh parsley and basil on top, then add grated Parmesan cheese to taste. Perfecting the Flavors To enhance the flavor of the angel hair pasta with tuna and tomato sauce recipe, here are some additional tips: 1. Adjust seasoning: Taste the sauce before adding the pasta to determine if the seasoning is enough. If it's not, adjust by adding more salt, black pepper, or red pepper flakes. 2. Add more herbs: Fresh herbs like basil, parsley, or oregano enhance the flavor and aroma of the pasta. Feel free to add more or any other herbs of your choice. 3. Upgrade the canned tuna: While canned tuna is convenient, you can still upgrade the flavor by going for high-quality tuna or substituting with fresh tuna. 4. Use a good quality olive oil: The olive oil used in this recipe is a crucial ingredient that can affect the pasta's overall taste. Choose a good quality oil with a fruity flavor to elevate the dish's aroma. Conclusion Angel hair pasta with tuna and tomato sauce is a straightforward yet delicious meal that delivers incredible flavor with minimum effort.
