Toasty Deviled Ham Sandwiches image

My step-mom-in-law made these broiled, open-faced sandwiches once and although I had never eaten deviled ham before, nor had I ever had any desire to, they were yummy. It's easy enough and good enough to impress company for a lunch or brunch. Be creative with variations of ingredients and toppings. Mmm!

Time 15m

Yield 2 halves, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (4 1/4 ounce) can deviled ham (like Underwood brand)
1 tablespoon dill relish, drained (more or less to taste)
1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 slices bread (left-over hamburger buns or kaiser rolls work great)
2 slices garden-ripe tomatoes
1/4 cup Velveeta cheese, cubed very small

Steps:

  • Mix the first 3 ingredients together.
  • Spread onto 2 slices of bread.
  • Pop into the broiler for just a few minutes, watching to make sure they don't burn.
  • Add tomatoes if using. If you desire to broil the tomatoes, broil the spread and bread a little first, then add the tomatoes and broil a little longer to desired doneness.
  • Serve hot with some tomato soup and enjoy!
