Time 55m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

Nonstick cooking spray
1 pound large shrimp (16/20 count), peeled and deveined, tails on
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos
2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1 scallion, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • For the fried shrimp: Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set aside. Pat the shrimp dry between a couple paper towels, then season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
  • Whisk the flour with 3/4 teaspoon salt and few grinds of pepper in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt in another shallow bowl. Add the panko to a third shallow bowl. Dip a shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess, then dip in the beaten eggs. Dredge in the panko, turning until evenly coated. Transfer to a large plate or a rimmed baking sheet and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees F. Working in batches, place some of the shrimp in a single layer in the fryer basket, then spray lightly with more cooking spray. Cook until the shrimp are golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through, about 10 minutes.
  • For the spicy remoulade sauce: Meanwhile, stir together the mayonnaise, pickled jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce and scallion in a small bowl until smooth. Serve with the fried shrimp for dipping.

The Benefits of Using an Air Fryer

Using an air fryer to cook shrimp and polenta has several benefits beyond just being a healthier cooking method. Here are a few reasons why you should consider using an air fryer for your next recipe:
Less Oil
By using an air fryer, you can achieve crispy and golden results with less oil than traditional frying methods. This makes your dish healthier and reduces the amount of oil you need to buy and dispose of.
Quicker Cooking Time
Air fryers cook food faster than traditional ovens or stovetops, which means you can have your shrimp and polenta ready in minutes. This is especially useful if you're short on time or cooking for a busy weeknight dinner.
Easier Cleanup
Air fryers are generally easier to clean than other cooking methods because they have a non-stick surface and often come with dishwasher-safe parts. This means you can spend less time cleaning up and more time enjoying your delicious meal.

Conclusion

By experimenting with different spices, coatings, and dipping sauces, you can create a variety of flavorful dishes that are perfect for any occasion. Using an air fryer also has numerous benefits beyond just being a healthier cooking method, such as quicker cooking times and easier clean-up. Try out some of these recipes for yourself and see how delicious and convenient air fryer cooking can be.
Air fryer has revolutionized the way we cook food. It provides us with a healthier option to fry food without submerging it in oil. One of the greatest ways to use an air fryer is to cook shrimp and polenta recipes. There are countless recipes available for shrimp and polenta that can be made in an air fryer, but before jumping into the recipes, you need to know some valuable tips that can make your dish outstanding.

Tip #1: Preparing the Shrimp

The first thing to do is to prepare the shrimp properly. The shrimp should be cleaned and deveined before you start cooking them. Air fryer shrimp can be cooked successfully using fresh or frozen shrimp, but the important thing is to ensure that they are not overcooked. Overcooking the shrimp can make them rubbery, tough, and flavorless. So, make sure you cook the shrimp for the required time only, depending on their size.

Tip #2: Preparing the Polenta

Polenta is a versatile ingredient that can be used in many dishes. When preparing polenta, the important thing to remember is the ratio of liquid to polenta. The ratio should be around 4:1. So, for every cup of polenta, you need to add four cups of liquid. You can use water, milk, or stock. Once the liquid is boiling, whisk in the polenta slowly, stirring continuously. If using instant polenta, the cooking time is usually around 5-6 minutes. For traditional polenta, the cooking time can be up to 45 minutes.

Tip #3: Add Flavor and Spices

One of the great things about shrimp and polenta recipes is how easily they can be customized with different flavors and spices. Try adding garlic, lemon, butter, or herbs to the shrimp. To the polenta, you can add cheese, herbs, or spices like cumin, chili, or smoked paprika. Experiment with different combinations to create your own unique dish.

Tip #4: Use a Light Coating of Oil

Unlike traditional frying, air frying requires only a light coating of oil. A light spray of oil is enough to prevent the shrimp and polenta from sticking to the air fryer basket. Olive oil is a healthy option, but any cooking oil of your choice will work. Do not use too much oil as it can cause the shrimp and polenta to become greasy.

Tip #5: Never Overcrowd the Basket

One of the biggest mistakes people make when air frying is overcrowding the basket. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking and a less crispy texture. The shrimp and polenta should be placed in a single layer in the basket, with enough space between them. If you are cooking a large batch, cook in batches to ensure they cook evenly.

Tip #6: Use the Correct Temperature and Time

The correct temperature and cooking time will depend on the size of the shrimp and the type of polenta being used. As a general rule, the shrimp should be cooked at 380°F for 6-8 minutes, and the polenta should be cooked at 400°F for 10-12 minutes. Check the shrimp and polenta frequently during cooking to ensure they are not overcooked.

Conclusion

Air fryer shrimp and polenta recipes are delicious, healthy, and easy to prepare. By following these valuable tips, you can create perfectly cooked shrimp and polenta dishes that will impress your family and friends. Remember to experiment with different flavors and spices to make the dish your own. Enjoy!
