Air fryer beefy vegan taquitos recipes are a popular dish that is easy to make and delicious. Taquitos are rolled up tortillas filled with various fillings and then deep-fried. With the help of an air fryer, these taquitos can be made in a healthier way. In this article, we will be sharing valuable tips for making air fryer beefy vegan taquitos recipes.

Tip 1: Choosing the right tortillas

One of the most important factors in making perfect air fryer beefy vegan taquitos is choosing the right tortillas. Corn tortillas are the most commonly used tortillas for taquitos because they are more pliable and hold up better when frying. However, you can still use flour tortillas if that is your preference. Make sure the tortillas are fresh and not stale or dry because this can cause them to break when rolled.
Tip 1.1: Softening tortillas
If you find that your tortillas are too stiff, you can soften them by heating them up. You can do this by wrapping them in a damp towel and microwaving them for 10-15 seconds, or by placing them on a hot griddle or skillet for a few seconds on each side.

Tip 2: Preparing the meatless beef filling

The meatless beef filling is the star of this recipe, and it is important to make it flavorful and moist. You can use soy crumbles, textured vegetable protein (TVP), or any other plant-based meat substitute. Make sure to season the meatless beef filling well with garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. You can also add chopped onions and bell peppers for more flavor.
Tip 2.1: Adding moisture to the filling
One of the challenges of using plant-based meat substitutes is that they can be dry. To add moisture to the filling, you can mix in a can of diced tomatoes or some tomato sauce. You can also add a tablespoon of olive oil to the filling.

Tip 3: Assembling the taquitos

Assembling the taquitos is a straightforward process. Start by heating up your tortillas so that they are pliable. Then, place a spoonful of the meatless beef filling on one end of the tortilla and roll it up tightly. Make sure to tuck in the sides as you roll to prevent the filling from falling out. You can also use toothpicks to secure the taquitos.
Tip 3.1: Using the right amount of filling
It's important to not overstuff your taquitos, or they will burst open during cooking. Use about 1-2 tablespoons of filling per taquito, depending on the size of your tortillas.

Tip 4: Prepping the air fryer

Prepping your air fryer is essential to getting crispy, golden-brown taquitos. Start by preheating your air fryer to 375°F for about 5 minutes. Then, lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Tip 4.1: Arranging taquitos in the air fryer
When placing your taquitos in the air fryer, make sure to not overcrowd the basket. Leave enough space between each taquito to allow air to circulate, which will ensure even cooking. You can also use a rack or layer the taquitos on top of each other to fit more in the basket.

Tip 5: Cooking the taquitos

Cooking the taquitos in the air fryer is quick and easy. Cook them for around 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even cooking. The taquitos should be golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Tip 5.1: Checking doneness
To check if the taquitos are done, insert a toothpick into the center of one. If it comes out clean, the taquito is fully cooked. If it comes out with filling, give the taquitos a few more minutes in the air fryer.

Tip 6: Serving the taquitos

Air fryer beefy vegan taquitos are delicious on their own, but you can serve them with a variety of toppings and dips. Some popular options include guacamole, salsa, vegan sour cream, and shredded vegan cheese. You can also serve them with a side of rice or beans.
Tip 6.1: Storing leftovers
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in the air fryer for a few minutes until heated through.

Conclusion

Air fryer beefy vegan taquitos are a tasty and healthy alternative to traditional fried taquitos. By following these valuable tips, you can make crispy and flavorful taquitos that are sure to be a hit.
