AIR FRYER S'MORES BANANA BOATS

Air Fryer S'mores Banana Boats image

When visiting my grandparents' lake house as a kid, they'd set up a tent and let us cousins pretend like we were camping. Grandma would always make these in the oven and bring them out to us so that we'd feel like we were really camping. Roasting the banana changes the the texture to almost a pudding-like consistency. Here is my adapted version using an air fryer.

This heavenly dessert is perfect for any occasion, whether it be a family dinner or holiday gathering. The warm and gooey chocolatey goodness of the empanada pairs perfectly with the sweet and spicy cinnamon whipped cream. If you're looking to make a mouthwatering batch of air fried chocolate banana empanadas with cinnamon whipped cream, then follow these valuable tips.

Tip #1: Use Ripe Bananas

When making air fried chocolate banana empanadas, it's essential to use ripe bananas. Ripe bananas have a sweet and soft texture, which makes them easy to mash and mix with other ingredients. Overripe bananas work great for this recipe. They're a bit sweeter and have a soft texture that makes them easier to work with. Bananas that are not ripe enough will have a starchy taste, which makes them unsuitable for this recipe.

Tip #2: Use High-Quality Chocolate

The type of chocolate you use can make or break your air fried chocolate banana empanadas. It's essential to choose high-quality chocolate that melts easily and has a smooth texture. Dark chocolate is the best type of chocolate to use for this recipe, as it has a rich flavor that pairs well with the sweet bananas. You can also use semisweet or milk chocolate, depending on your preference.

Tip #3: Don't Overfill the Empanadas

When making empanadas, it's important not to overfill them. Overfilling the empanadas will cause them to burst open while cooking, resulting in a mess. A good rule of thumb is to fill each empanada with about two tablespoons of the banana and chocolate filling. This will give you the perfect ratio of filling to dough, ensuring that your empanadas turn out perfectly every time.

Tip #4: Brush the Empanadas with Egg Wash

Brushing the empanadas with egg wash before baking them is essential for achieving that golden brown and crispy crust. To make an egg wash, beat one egg and add a tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash over the surface of each empanada, making sure to cover the edges as well. This will give your empanadas a beautiful shine and help them turn golden brown while cooking.

Tip #5: Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheating your air fryer is essential for achieving perfectly cooked empanadas. Preheating the air fryer ensures that it's hot enough to cook the empanadas evenly and quickly. The ideal temperature for cooking air fried chocolate banana empanadas is 370 degrees Fahrenheit. Preheating the air fryer for five minutes before cooking will ensure that it reaches the desired temperature.

Tip #6: Use Parchment Paper

Using parchment paper when cooking air fried chocolate banana empanadas helps to prevent them from sticking to the air fryer basket. Cut sheets of parchment paper into small rounds that fit the size of your empanadas. Place the parchment paper in the bottom of the air fryer basket before placing the empanadas on top. This method will prevent the empanadas from sticking and make cleanup a breeze.

Tip #7: Make the Cinnamon Whipped Cream Ahead of Time

Making the cinnamon whipped cream ahead of time will save you time and energy when it's time to serve the empanadas. Whipping cream can take a while, so having it prepared ahead of time will make your life easier. Make the cinnamon whipped cream a few hours before serving the empanadas and store it in the fridge until ready to use.

Tip #8: Serve the Empanadas Warm

Air fried chocolate banana empanadas are best served warm. The warm and gooey chocolatey filling paired with the sweet and spicy cinnamon whipped cream is irresistible. Serve the empanadas fresh out of the air fryer and top them with a dollop of cinnamon whipped cream for the ultimate dessert.

Conclusion

Making air fried chocolate banana empanadas with cinnamon whipped cream is a delicious and easy dessert that will impress your guests. Follow these valuable tips for the perfect batch every time. Use ripe bananas, high-quality chocolate, and don't overfill the empanadas. Brush the empanadas with egg wash, preheat the air fryer, and use parchment paper.
