" IT'S TOO EASY" PORK CHOPS & RICE CASSEROLE

When I made this (my husband's favorite) the other night I was asked if I'd ever submitted this recipe to Zaar. I had to answer, "What recipe?" So, after throwing this together for over 20 years, I'm writing down this "no-brainer" recipe for you to try, which only takes around 10 minutes to prepare. Optional: You may add fresh or canned sliced mushrooms to the pan if you wish. (2/1/08:Note: Using creamed soups will totally change the texture of this dish.)

Time 55m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 thicker cut boneless pork chops
1 1/2 cups long-grain rice
black pepper
1 1/2 ounces dry onion soup mix (One-half envelope)
3 1/2 cups water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and spray baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In frying pan on medium to high heat, sear to brown pork chops in oil on both sides.
  • While pork chops are browning, take baking pan and layer rice, then sprinkle with black pepper, then dry onion soup mix over all.
  • In small saucepan, bring water to boiling and stir into rice mixture in baking pan just as pork chops are browned.
  • Place browned pork chops over all, cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, until tender.
  • Note: Check after 30 minutes to see if rice is done or if it's drying out. Lift up pork chops to stir rice mix in pan and taste. Add more water if needed. When the rice is done, the pork chops are usually very tender. I've found that over the years (with the 4 different stoves I've had!) cooking times may sometimes vary.

SIMPLY OVEN BAKED PORK CHOPS AND RICE

Simply Oven Baked Pork Chops and Rice image

This is DH's recipe. It is simple comfort food and is very versatile. You can use chicken quarters in place of chops or chicken broth in place of water. Feel free to experiment with different herbs. We never make this the same way twice. A side note: I would recommend using a bone in, fattier cut of pork and not loin chops in this recipe.

Pork chops rice recipes are a delicious and convenient meal that can be enjoyed by anyone. When done correctly, it can even become an addictive dish that everyone will crave. However, with the countless pork chops and rice recipes available out there, it can be challenging to know where to start. That is why we have compiled a list of valuable tips to consider when making addicting pork chops rice recipes.

1. Select the Right Kind of Pork Chops

One of the essential factors to consider when making addicting pork chops rice recipes is the kind of pork chops you choose. The type of pork chop can greatly affect the final outcome of your dish. There are several types of pork chops available in the market, including boneless, bone-in, thick-cut, and thin-cut. Bone-in pork chops are often the most flavorful and tender as the bone adds flavor and moisture to the meat. However, boneless pork chops are also a good option, especially if you are looking for a leaner cut of meat.

2. Marinate Your Pork Chops

Another valuable tip to consider when making addicting pork chops rice recipes is to marinate your pork chops. Marinating your pork chops can help to tenderize the meat, add flavor, and help lock in moisture. When marinating pork chops, it is essential to ensure that they are fully submerged in the marinade. Also, marinating pork chops for several hours or overnight will enable the flavors to infuse into the meat fully. Some excellent marinade options for pork chops include a mix of soy sauce, honey, and garlic, or a blend of lime juice, olive oil, and herbs.

3. Don't Overcook the Pork Chops

One of the most crucial factors to consider when making addicting pork chops rice recipes is not to overcook the pork chops. Overcooking the pork chops will leave them dry, tough, and chewy, which can ruin the entire dish. The best way to ensure that your pork chops are cooked to perfection is to use a meat thermometer. Pork chops should be cooked to 145°F (63°C) in the center, allowing for slight pinkness. Another good method is to cook them over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side.

4. Choose the Right Type of Rice

Creating an addicting pork chops rice recipe also requires choosing the right kind of rice. Many types of rice can be used, including white rice, brown rice, jasmine rice, or Basmati rice. It is essential to consider the texture and flavor of the rice when choosing the right kind of rice. For instance, basmati rice has a nutty flavor and a fluffy texture, while brown rice has a chewy texture and earthy flavor.

5. Use Flavorful Stock

One way to create an addictive pork chops rice recipe is to use a flavorful stock. Aromatic stock made from chicken or beef bones can add a rich and deep flavor to the dish. Alternatively, you can also use vegetable broth or even water and bouillon cubes. Ensure that you add enough stock to the rice to give it the right consistency, not too thick or too watery.

6. Add Vegetables

Adding vegetables to your pork chops rice recipe can give it a nutritional boost while also adding flavor, texture, and color to your meal. Some excellent vegetable options include bell peppers, onions, carrots, and green beans. Ensure that you add the vegetables towards the end of the cooking time to prevent them from becoming too mushy. This will also help to keep their color and texture intact.

7. Finish with Fresh Herbs

The last step of creating an addictive pork chops rice recipe is to finish it off with fresh herbs. Herbs such as parsley, basil, cilantro, or chives can add a fragrant and fresh element to your dish. Chop them finely and sprinkle them over the dish before serving to add brightness to your dish.

Conclusion

In summary, making addicting pork chops rice recipes requires a combination of careful selection of ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques. Choosing the right kind of pork chops, marinating them, not overcooking the meat, selecting the right kind of rice, using flavorful broth, adding vegetables, and finishing with fresh herbs are essential elements to consider when making a delicious and addictive pork chops rice recipe. Use these tips to create your own unique and delicious pork chops rice recipe.
