A Different Take on the Grilled Chicken Reuben Sandwich

Looking to spice up your sandwich game? Try a unique twist on the classic Reuben sandwich. Instead of the traditional corned beef or pastrami, use grilled chicken as the protein. This change not only provides a healthier option but also adds a new layer of flavor to the dish.
Recipe Ideas
There are many different ways to make a grilled chicken Reuben sandwich. Here are a few recipe ideas to get you started:
The Classic
For a classic grilled chicken Reuben sandwich, start with a marinated chicken breast. Grill the chicken until cooked through, and then layer it onto rye bread along with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing. Toast the sandwich until the cheese is melted, and serve hot.
The Southwest
For a Southwest twist on the grilled chicken Reuben sandwich, marinate the chicken breast in a spicy sauce. Grill the chicken until done, and then layer it onto a tortilla along with coleslaw, pepper Jack cheese, and a chipotle aioli sauce. Roll the tortilla up, and enjoy as a wrap!
The Californian
For a lighter, fresher version of the grilled chicken Reuben sandwich, switch out the rye bread for a lettuce wrap. Grill the chicken until cooked through, and then wrap it in a large lettuce leaf along with avocado, cucumber, and a homemade tahini dressing. Enjoy as a healthy and flavorful lunch option.
The Greek
For a Mediterranean feel, top your grilled chicken with tzatziki sauce instead of Thousand Island. Layer onto pita bread along with crumbled feta cheese, chopped tomatoes, and sliced red onions. Grill or warm up the pita to create a delicious and unique sandwich option.

Why Try a Different Grilled Chicken Reuben Sandwich?

Experiment with Cheese
The type of cheese you use can also make a difference in the flavor of your sandwich. Swiss cheese is the classic choice for a reuben sandwich, but you can experiment with other types of cheeses, such as cheddar, gouda, or provolone.
Use a Thousand Island Dressing
The thousand island dressing is the perfect finishing touch to a reuben sandwich. It’s a tangy, creamy sauce made with mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, and spices. You can make your own dressing by mixing these ingredients together, or use store-bought.
Add Extras
