SIMPLE CAKE POPS
Everyone loves cake pops! They are simple to make, and you can create anything for any occasion. They are also nice small bites of dessert instead of large slices of cake or pie. Can be made up in partial batches and the remaining ingredients stored for a few weeks.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Beat cake mix, water, eggs, and oil in a bowl using an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds. Increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes more. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 28 to 33 minutes. Cool completely, at least 1 hour.
- Crumble cake into a large bowl. Stir frosting into cake crumbles until mixture is sticky but not too smooth. Chill in refrigerator, at least 30 minutes.
- Roll cake mixture into 1 1/2-inch balls and arrange on a baking sheet. Place 1 lollipop stick into each ball.
- Melt about 1/4 cup chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave, about 20 seconds. Dip each cake pop in the melted chocolate. Repeat melting chocolate and dipping remaining cake pops. Decorate pops with decorating icing.

TRICK-OR-TREAT CAKE
This fun Halloween cake looks like a giant trick-or-treat bag with lots of sugary candy spilling out of it. I came up with the idea after reminiscing with my sisters about the times we went trick-or-treating together. -Amy McCoy, Huntington Beach, California

- Prepare and bake cake according to package directions, using a greased and floured 13x9-in. baking pan. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. , Transfer the cake to a 20x17-in. covered board. Cut a zigzag pattern on one short end of cake to resemble the top of a treat bag. Spread top and sides of cake with frosting; decorate, as desired, with gels and candies.

- Make and bake cake mix as directed on box for 13x9-inch pan, using water, oil and eggs. Cool. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Crumble cake into large bowl. Add frosting; mix well. Shape into 1 1/4-inch balls; place on cookie sheet. Freeze until firm; keep refrigerated
- In microwavable bowl, microwave orange candy melts and half of the shortening uncovered on Medium (50%) 1 minute, then in 15-second intervals, until melted; stir until smooth. Repeat with black candy melts and remaining shortening. Dip tip of 1 lollipop stick about 1/2 inch into either color melted candy and insert stick into 1 cake ball no more than halfway. Repeat. Return to cookie sheet. Refrigerate 5 minutes. Remove from refrigerator a few at a time. Dip half of the cake balls in melted orange candy and half in black candy; tap off excess. Decorate with candy sprinkles. Poke opposite end of stick into foam block. Let stand until set.
- Reheat remaining melted candy if necessary. Drizzle orange pops with melted black candy; drizzle black pops with melted orange candy.
